Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) Ogun State branch has applauded the Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu for ensuring that the Judiciary arm of government enhances quick dispensation of Justice on anti-land grabbing matters in the State.
The Chairman of the Association, Surveyor Adewale Oluwafemi gave the commendation at the APPSN public lecture on anti-land grabbing law of Ogun State held in Abeokuta.
Surveyor Adewale appreciated the Hon. Chief Judge and other judges in Ogun State for assisting in safeguarding the law by making sure that justice is done rightly without fear, favour or ill-will.
“We must go beyond intention into action, strong will to implement our law is required without fear, favour or partiality, our integrity will be put to test on this matter, the Judiciary is the last hope of the nation to uphold the rule of law” The Chairman submitted
The Ogun State Land Grabbing Prohibition Law, 2016 signed by the State government entails multifaceted items covering forcible entry and occupation of landed properties, anti-violence and fraudulent conducts in relation to landed properties, robbery and armed robbery, kidnapping and secret cults prohibition among others.
The law which is already in operation, prescribes 25 years jail term or death sentence to anyone found guilty of land grabbing offences.
Present at the public lecture organised by APPSN are the Hon. Justice Abiodun Akinyemi who was the Guest Speaker of the occasion, Hon Justice Titi Bello (High Court Judge), Hon. Justice Philip Akinsinde (Customary Court of Appeal Judge) and former Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr Olumide Ayeni.
