The Small Claims Court of Ogun State was set up by the administration of Honourable Justice M.A Dipeolu FICMC. It seeks to bring justice closer to the people, and also ensures quicker dispensation of justice in identified matters.

The small claims court deals with simple matters such as debt recovery disputes, demands and damages that do not exceed N500,000. It is targeted at some people who might find it difficult to hire the service of lawyers. Thus, the court employs a very simple manner of operation; and litigants do not need lawyers to file claims or defend same. The fees are also quite cheap and affordable.

There are currently six (6) Small Claims Courts operational and strategically spread across the State. The locations are:

1.Abeokuta: Customary Court of Appeal premises, Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

2. Ilaro: High Court of ilaro premises, on the way to Ibese. ilaro, Ogun State.

3.Ijebu-Ode: High Court Premises, Ijebu-ode, Igbeba Road opposite Igbeba Police Station,
Ijebu-Ode.

4. Sagamu: High Court, Sagamu Premises,
Old Abeokuta Road, Makun, Sagamu.

5. Ifo: High Court, Ifo premises, Civil Defence Office, Okoro-Ikere,
Ibogun Road, Ifo.

6.Ota: High Court, Ota Premises, Klm 7, Idiroko Road, Opposite Honda Ota, Ogun State.

Matters at the small claims court are time bound. Thus entire proceedings from inception till judgment, is not expected to last more than 60 days.
