REJOINDER: DISTURBING TRENDS IN OGUN STATE JUDICIARY RELATING TO EXORBITANT SERVICE FEES / COMPLAINT OF EXTORTION BY BAILIFFS

The story circulating on social media in respect of the issue of payment of excessive service fees and demand for mobilization by the Bailiffs/Process Servers in Ogun State, has come to the notice of the Management team of Ogun State Judiciary.

The management frowns at this publication while stating that such observation ought to have been reported directly to it.

Ogun State Judiciary hereby states unequivocally that in as much as it is impossible for the Management to be privy to discussions between Counsel and Bailiffs the Lawyer owe a duty to report such observations to the Management.

Presently, Ogun State Judiciary while denying the issue of exorbitant charges for service of process has notwithstanding begun investigation into the report and will, as in its usual approach deal with any Officer found wanting or culpable in that regard.

Thank you.
